Egh, Black can be rather stubborn and at this point the two can really barely get along with each other. Taylor's driving a wedge between the UF brothers and everyone else in the house as revenge for them dumping her, like she did to Mutt in the actual fic.

Black and Edge never really got on well, and there's bad blood from the beginning too. They know how to get along if they have to, and prefer sparing with each other because they have similar experiences and styles, but don't particularly like each other. Even if they're more similar than not.

tangentially related to the last post, in my experience a lot of my english teachers had an onboarding problem and i struggled to understand what they wanted me to say when i had to write some form of literary analysis

but then one year, my teacher just handed out a cheatsheet of "questions to ask when analyzing from different critical lenses" to help brainstorm an essay and it was just a single sheet of double-sided paper

but i looked at it for 5 seconds and it immediately clicked what i was supposed to be doing for the entire past several years of english classes and also immediately clicked how other people reached the interesting parts

I do commend you, Terravent mod; somehow, you have more humanity in showing *some* consideration for Civ without even having the full picture, despite a lot of users jumping immediately on the hate bandwagon purely because Civ and Coy are dating. Even you yourself jumped on it until you saw snippets of the chatlogs, which were circumstantial at best. It really says a lot about them if a damn Tumblr vent blog moderator has more compassion honestly, even if in the end Civ was truly as rotten as Coy.

texas passed a bill protecting minor's use of the internet and its sooo fucking bad oh my god.. i just skimmed it and its a fucking doozy

honestly i cant imagine this thing holds up against a court at all, the wording is so broad and yet defined in all the wrong places.

for example just check out this section here:

shit like this being baked into laws makes me clench my bootycheeks, because its so fucking broad you just know its going to be used for malice!!! "as determined by the district or school" is just a free pass to bring down the censorship hammer and further demean the line between church & state.

some of it feels reasonable but you can't justify these means when its coupled with little landmines.

additionally, as far as i read there is no section outlining actions an online service provider should take in order to circumvent minors simply.. putting a different age?

basically, if you say you're under 18 and a known minor, online service providers will no longer allow you to adjust your age once set (in other words, if you put like 2010 as your birthday, its stuck as 2010 until you turn 18.) this shakes out since most websites don't allow you to change your birthday anymore anyways (or they allow like 1 adjustment at most, which is another baked in way for minors to circumvent age restrictions until they turn of age too but whatever).

my problem with this though is once again, if the minor simply just lied, there's literally nothing stopping them from getting away with that unless:

a.) as provided in the section, the verified parent disputes the registered age of the minor

or

b.) if digital service providers begin requiring IDs to register an account.

either option is disastrous for sure. don't think i need to spell out how many levels of violated i would feel by any social media asking me for my ID, when they already sell plenty of my data without that to begin with.

this bill all banks on the degrees to which parents follow through on their responsibilities to ensure online safety. while it does create an obligation for schools to provide online safety materials to parents, by no means does that secure any sort of followthrough by said parents to assume that duty. i can't imagine providing a legal avenue to assert that right is going to do anything to somehow change that. in other words, you can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink.

one of the only notable highlights of this bill in my opinion i'll provide a snippet of as well, although a later defined section provides protection of trade secrets

i think that digital service providers absolutely need to be held accountable by third parties to dash any chances of another elsagate moment. also, i like that this bill asks companies to share their safety techniques with each other, even if that's never put into practice.

ultimately this isn't any type of call to action or intensive unpacking of all this bill entails so feel free to read it here, i just found it interesting and unnerving and wanted to articulate my own thoughts on it somewhere.

I have such low frustration tolerance for when people cant follow my instructions especially when not following my instructions fucks them over.

I also hate adults are being coddled by everyone around them so they forget that in the vast majority of american society its to their benefit and protection that they are independent and have to take care of their own legal issues w/o help

Like my brother is autistic. Hes been diagnosed since he was 5. He received ssi for years and im guessing lost it bc his grandma didnt do an appointment or whatever. He literally received ssi bc of his disability but for some reason he cant get it back. He hired lawyers who are planning on taking 9k from what is a case where he just has to show an autism diagnosis.

I told him who would have copies of his records and for aome reason he got a huge stack of papers from our doctor when he was a newborn as if theyd hve it. Ofc i was like "does any of that say you're autistic?" He shuffles for like literally 14 minutes and no it doesnt

Back in December when i was there i told him repeatedly i could only call to check if thats the same doctor but i ended up being too busy. I told him MULTIPLE times i cant do anything beyond that and bc of hipaa he has to get the records himself. So i was literally just prechecking for him. He called and apparently the doctor is on vacation which has shit all to do with his records.

All he has to do is go to social security amd get copies of his ssi determination letter from 2011. Ive told him to do this so many times. He has four solid places to get his records from and he just has been wasting his time

What pisses me off about this is that its so simple.he just needs a fuckin paper that liats autism as a diagnosis. The lawyers hes paying 9k for a easy case actually probably wont even win bc he cant listen and do it.
